Michael E. Rogers, PhD, CSCS - Biographic Sketch
Wichita State University
Dr. Michael Rogers is in his fifth year as an assistant professor of Exercise Science at WSU.
He teaches graduate courses in exercise physiology, research design, and aging.
Dr. Rogers is also the Director for the Center for Physical Activity and Aging at WSU.
His primary research interests oncern the effects of balance and strength training on muscle and bone health,
fall prevention, and functional capacity in older adults. He has 26 published papers and has made 95
presentations at national and international conferences, regularly presenting in Europe and Asia.
He has been appointed to the Steering Committee for the American College of Sports Medicine Special
Interest Group on Aging, the Editorial Board for the Journal of Aging and Physical Activity, and the Executive
Committee for the International Society for Aging and Physical Activity. In addition he serves as the web
site master for this international organization. In both 2001 and 2002, he was a visiting academic scholar
at Nagoya City University in Japan on behalf of the Japanese Foundation for Health and Aging.
